Fifty years ago, two of the best loved bands in rock released records that were milestones in their careers. For The Beatles, it was their swan song Abbey Road, the last collection of music they recorded together and an album that many fans consider their best. For The Rolling Stones, it was Let It Bleed, the record that found them firmly in command of the blues-rock sound they'd only recently reinstated, and one of a series of albums that are widely regarded as the pinnacles of their career.
