The Top Ten Reasons to Feel Proud to Be a Fan of Rush
Reason #9
A writer for Sharp magazine made an interesting observation. He said that Rush is like the musical equivalent of Star Trek: wildly popular to a small, devoted and maybe even a bit disconcerting group of fans.
Remember William Shatner on Saturday Night Live addressing a group of Trekkies at a fan convention?
Chiding them for investing so much time and energy in a work of fiction, he bellowed, “Get a life!”
Yeah, it was funny at the time.
But look at what Star Trek has grown into over the years: feature films that have done well at the box office, multiple television series on both broadcast networks and streaming services, video games on a variety of platforms, novels, fan fiction, graphic novels, comic books.
Today, the name Star Trek refers to what Wikipedia has summed up as “one of the most recognizable and highest-grossing media franchises of all time."
So saying that Rush and Star Trek have a lot in common,…that’s a huge compliment. And it’s something to feel proud of your band about.
Oh! And one other thing about Rush and Star Trek. They both like to tell sci-fi stories.
