"Dumb Blonde"

“Over a six-decade career that launched with her Grand Ole Opry debut at 13, Dolly Parton has written more than 3,000 songs, sold over 100 million records, and recorded over 25 #1 country hit singles.”

And with that single sentence, the People magazine Special Edition spotlighting Dolly Parton sums up the astonishing career of this extraordinary human being.

For our next tribute, we’ll be featuring the most memorable songs from Dolly’s many albums, beginning with the single that was her first to make the Billboard country charts, “Dumb Blonde.”

Why would such a savvy person record a song with that title?

As Dolly herself explained, “I’m not offended by all of the dumb blonde jokes because I know I’m not dumb.  And I also know that I’m not blonde.”

. . . .

(Don’t miss Dolly’s quip about “one thing this blonde has learned” at 1:29.)
