The Rolling Stones...then and now
They started off rehearsing in a cheap upstairs room they rented from a London pub off Wardour Street. And in just a few months, a six-piece band led by Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, and Keith Richards made their debut at the original Marquee Club on Oxford Street on July 12, 1962.
Flash forward a handful of decades, and that group that started out playing the music of Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry was written up in the December 2021 issue of Forbes for being one of the top-grossing tours of that year, “earning over $115 million and selling over 516,000 tickets for 12 shows across 11 cities, charging an average of roughly $223 per ticket.”
From those modest beginnings a band of blues fans went on to become one of the most successful and best-loved rock and roll groups in the world. And they’re still making music today with talk of an album of original music and a major concert tour in the works.
But you’re in luck if you love the music of The Rolling Stones. We’ll be playing their music for FREE when we take the stage at the Bolingbrook Promenade a week from tonight on Thursday, August 10th.
